AUGUSTUS

DESCRIPTION

The project AUGUSTUS “AUgmented Game for Sicilian ToUrism marketing Solutions” has been developed within the framework of the  ROP Sicilia ERDF 2014/2020, Action 1.1.5 “Support for the technological advancement of enterprises through the funding of pilot lines and early product validation and large-scale demonstration actions” and aims at the development of a prototype able to generate a new way of fruition of cultural heritage, through the application of innovative methodologies, technologies and tools to the valorization of the Sicilian historical-cultural heritage, with particular attention to the territory influenced by the Greek-Roman presence.

The research project is divided into 7 Work Packages.

WP1 Analysis of new methods and tools for augmented fruition and enhancement of cultural heritage

The first phase aims to propose innovative approaches for the fruition of cultural heritage content.

WP2 Narrative methods of reference scenarios

The objective of this phase is to develop new narrative methodologies based on gamification logics, to promote certain excellences of Sicily’s cultural heritage.

WP3 Design tools for augmented reality applied to gamification

This key phase of the project sees the definition of the 3D environments and the design of the game, both in its onsite and offsite versions.

WP4 Design tools for augmented reality applied to gamification

A phase that sees the design and validation of the platform and mobile application with respect to user experience.

WP5 On-site and off-site Gaming Design and Validation and eAPP mobile platform integration

This phase sees the realization of the gaming prototypes and the integration of the video game and the mobile app.

WP6 Experimentation

This phase aims to validate the effectiveness of the gamified system and of the applications on the demonstration sites and to verify the replicability of the user model developed during the project.

WP7 Communication and Dissemination

The last phase aims to ensure maximum visibility for the project results.
